Out early this morning and spotted some little golden fairies paddling in the morning dew. The Alchemilla Mollis is perfect for this pastime so do go out for yourselves and see if you can catch some in the act . If you are not lucky enough to spot the little creatures you could try dipping your own toes or nose - the fairies tell me it's like an elixir of youth and very good for the skin.
Also out early were these pretty maids in a row found in a pot of succulents - most fairies hate getting muddy and grubby but these three specimens seemed to be digging their feet in quite happily.
A familiar fairy in my garden is this blue hydrangea fairy who was smelling the French lavender. She told me she was waiting for the English lavender fairies to arrive and asked me to make some lavender shortbread when they do come as a celebration of summer. A lot of the fairies , like their plants are late being seen this year with everything being so behind with the cold.
I must report that I got quite excited when I spied something from a distance through the buttercups and daisies on my lawn ...
as I got closer i could see it was a grassy knoll that hadn't been there before - most mysterious ...
at last I could see the little knoll ( which is 20cms high ) had a tiny fairy on the top reading a book.
She didn't seem put out by my presence and so I took a close up of her and of her grassy mound ...
it even had butterflies settling on it ...
and fragments of broken china and a tiny toadstall and tiny flowers...
I thought that for the benefit of science I should capture her under a glass dome and keep her safe . She is quite happy, especially as she is now being fed regularly and doesn't have to fly off and forage for food and water and can carry on reading to her heart's content.
Also abroad at an early hour was this little gnome sitting in the centre of an emerging fern ( he was once caught in the house eating some mince pies at Christmas if you look back over old posts ) anyhow , here he is again and I think he cast some strange magic as his photo looks rather squashed - I'm hoping that in the posting it will regain it's shape ...
Just to remind everyone that when the sun comes out Mother Nature is brimming over with excitement at the moment. I took these last photos at Sissinghurst where I tried to spot some fairies but there really were too many other visitors to tempt them out , so here are some fairy free pictures to end with ...
wonderful white wisteria that smelled divine ...
mauve wisteria seen from the herb garden ...
more wisteria hysteria ...
and some beautiful blue lupins ...
Keep on spotting - but remember it's best when there is nobody else around !
