A Flavour of Cornwall

Have been to beautiful Cornwall and have been inspired ... these first few are of Trabarwith Strand on the north coast and were taken early evening where the fading light just seemed to enhance the moody blue colours of the slatey rocks.

 Next up the  Tintagel coastline.

On the somewhat softer southern side is Carne beach below.

Quite a few wild flowers were still out - saw purple orchids, heather, thrift, gorse and chamomile hugging the cliff tops.

Rock pools are always so magical.

Below is the estuary at Caerhays and all this scenery has got me stitching wildly ! Am working on a metallic organza which gives the work a glorious glint - especially good for depicting the water.

Back to Carne and a detail of the embroidery I made of it. All the pieces are about 7x5 inches , machine embroidered and then finished with hand embroidery.

This one is called Blue bay and it really shimmers - unfortunately I can't capture it on camera.

Have come back with loads more photographs to work from ... all fairy lovers, I shall be making a new collection at the end of the month !

thanks for sharing these photos- cornwall is my favourite place in the whole world!! i especially love the rockpool photo- rockpools always remind me of fairies for some reason- maybe it's because they are like tiny worlds... your embroideries are beautiful too!

the photos don't really do justice to how sensitive and beautiful these tiny embroideries are. All the best with this new work Lesley.
